Drain installation at Kaipatiki

Kaipatiki

12 months

Direct Drains was engaged by CB Civil to support the accelerated delivery of a new 565mm GRP wastewater rising main. The project involved the installation of a 6-metre-deep air valve and excavation works within a Level 2 road reserve.

Our team also contributed to the design and implementation of a pipe-in-pipe methodology, installing a new 150mm pipeline on the opposite crossfall grade through an existing 525mm pipe bridge, connecting to a new pump station.

Due to constrained site conditions, including limited access through private properties, Direct Drains maintained close coordination with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and efficient daily liaison throughout the project.

Alliance infrastructure upgrades

6 years combined through the neighbourhoods

Direct Drains delivered infrastructure upgrades across Northcote, Mt Roskill, Onehunga, Tāmaki, Waikōwhai, and Owairaka, supporting a wide range of stormwater and wastewater improvements.

Key works included major wetland upgrades servicing a 400-household community, incorporating the installation of fish baffles and a fish ladder within a 2300mm manhole to enhance environmental outcomes.

The team worked closely with design and compliance specialists on a weekly basis, contributing practical, cost-effective solutions tailored to site constraints and unforeseen conditions. Scope also included stormwater and wastewater pipeline installations and connections to existing networks, ranging from 150mm to 2300mm diameter at depths of up to 6 metres.

Throughout the project, clear and consistent communication was maintained with all stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.

Duttons

2 months

Auckland Council and Duttons engaged Direct Drains to undertake remedial works on a compromised filtration system. The project required the temporary closure of a local park and restricted access to a nearby daycare to safely facilitate the works.

Scope included the removal of a 15-tonne concrete structure, enabling repairs to internal damage, reconfiguration of the filtration system, and full restoration of its functionality. Due to the complexity of the excavation, Direct Drains engaged Guardian to install a 7.2m x 7.2m box shield, ensuring a safe and stable working environment. Over-pumping of live stormwater flows was also implemented to maintain dry and controlled conditions throughout the works.

Direct Drains delivered the installation of three wastewater pump stations and one stormwater pump station, along with several large-capacity storage tanks to support network resilience. The project also included the installation of 2,000m² of Triton chamber stormwater attenuation tanks, providing efficient stormwater management and storage.
